World Walk Peace Tour

When I was a teenager, I had a hat that said, "World Walker." It was my inspiration! I have been a lot of places but I have never just picked up and started walking, which is what I have always wanted to do. Now that I have two children and a serious case of plantar faciitis, I probably never will...maybe I'll bike.

These two guys are living my dream. They will be arriving in the US May 17. If you happen to be along their route, come out and say hello!

Welcome to the USA Ferenc and Istavan Ivanics!
(I'm off to Atlanta today. I'll be back in about 4 days. Peace.)

  2. Maybe they will take Highway 20. It goes across the Northern US from Boston to Seaside OR. It goes through Yellowstone Park and by the town I live in. We occasionally see hikers, bikers, and vintage car rallys taking that route. You may not get to walk the world, but it sounds like you have put in a few miles in other ways. Best wishes on your trip.

  5. Hello there!
    You have to fulfill your personal legend, means that overcome the obstacles which hinder you to live on your dream.

  6. Wish I could work on your plantar fasciatis! It seems so unfair that you would suffer from it.

    Have you ever taken a long, long walk? Friends of mine have walked the entirety of the Pacific Coast trail and also the Appalachian trail.

    I've never done that but I did take a train ride across the U.S. once. Even on the train I was struck by how HUGE the world really is. Very cool.

  7. I have walked the Annapurna half-circuit in the Himalayas twice. That is a week long walk. And I do go on regular hikes when I am in Nepal, day long jungle walks or mountain treks.

    My last walk, last week, was only about 2 miles and I was limping by the end of the walk.

    After two years of suffering, I have finally gone to a podiatrist. He thinks that with inserts and cortisone shots, I will be walking normally again. Let us hope.

  9. Thanks for the gentle reminder about the power of pilgrimages. Many knds exist. One need not travel great distances in the world. Pilgrimages awaken people to aspects of themselves and the physical world to which they had become disconnected. The following book is a fascinating journey of a specific 30 day walk that changes pilgrims;
